3. Our Services
3.1 Nature of Services
We provide occupational therapy services to support individuals with PMOS in managing daily life, improving functional wellbeing, and developing practical strategies for living with the condition.
Our services are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a qualified doctor or other medical professional. We strongly recommend you continue to work with your GP and any relevant medical specialists alongside our services.
3.2 Occupational Therapy for PMOS
Occupational therapy (OT) takes a holistic, person-centred approach to supporting individuals with PMOS. Rather than focusing solely on medical symptoms, OT addresses the impact of PMOS on everyday life, meaningful activities, roles, and routines. The occupational therapist’s role is to work collaboratively with you to identify barriers to daily functioning and develop practical, sustainable strategies to overcome them — always within the scope of occupational therapy practice.
Our OT for PMOS services includes support across the following areas:
• Fatigue management and energy conservation — developing strategies to manage PMOS-related fatigue and maintain engagement in daily activities
• Sleep hygiene and rest strategies — supporting the development of healthy sleep routines to improve rest and overall wellbeing
• Mental health and emotional wellbeing support — addressing the psychological impact of living with PMOS on mood, self-esteem, and daily functioning, within the scope of OT practice
• Cognitive difficulties — practical strategies to manage brain fog, difficulties with concentration, and memory challenges commonly associated with PMOS
• Daily routine and occupational balance — supporting you to establish balanced, sustainable daily routines that accommodate your symptoms and priorities
• Nutrition and lifestyle habit support — practical guidance on building manageable habits around nutrition and lifestyle, within the OT scope of practice and not as a substitute for dietetic or medical advice
• Exercise and movement planning — supporting you to incorporate appropriate movement into daily life in a way that is realistic and responsive to your symptoms
• Work, study and role performance support — addressing the impact of PMOS on your ability to fulfil work, academic, and other valued occupational roles
• Pacing — supporting you to pace your activity levels to manage symptoms effectively, and advising you when it may be appropriate to seek input from relevant medical professionals for further assessment or treatment
• Self-advocacy and healthcare navigation — supporting you to communicate your needs effectively within healthcare systems and access appropriate services
• Menstrual symptom impact on daily life — exploring how menstrual symptoms related to PCOS affect your daily activities and identifying strategies to maintain participation and wellbeing
• Relationships and social participation — addressing the impact of PMOS on social roles, relationships, and community participation
• Goal setting and self-management strategies — working collaboratively with you to set meaningful goals and develop the skills and confidence to self-manage your condition in daily life
Please note that whilst our occupational therapist will offer guidance and strategies across these areas, OT input is not a replacement for specialist medical, psychological, or dietetic services. We will always advise you when we feel input from another professional would be beneficial and support you to access appropriate referrals where needed.
3.3 Consent to Treatment
We are committed to obtaining your informed consent before any assessment or intervention takes place. This means we will explain the nature, purpose, and scope of any proposed session or activity, and give you the opportunity to ask questions before agreeing to proceed.
Consent to treatment is a separate matter from consent to the processing of your personal data (see Section 7 and our Privacy Policy). By agreeing to receive our services, you are not automatically consenting to any particular use of your personal data beyond what is necessary to deliver direct care.
You may withdraw your consent to treatment at any time. If you wish to do so, please inform us as soon as possible. Withdrawal of consent does not affect any charges already incurred in accordance with our cancellation policy (see Section 4.2).
3.4 Online Sessions
Online sessions are delivered via a secure video platform. You are responsible for ensuring you have a suitable private space, a stable internet connection, and compatible device to participate.
3.5 In-Person Sessions
In-person sessions can be carried out at the client’s home or another agreed location. Details will be confirmed at the time of booking.
Home visits located more than 1 hour’s travel from the treating occupational therapist’s home address may incur an additional travel charge. Where applicable, this charge will be communicated to you in advance and agreed before the appointment is confirmed.
3.6 Pelvic Health Support
We offer occupational therapy-led pelvic health support as part of our PMOS services. Our approach focuses on the functional and occupational impact of pelvic health conditions on daily life. Our OT-specific pelvic health services include:
• Energy conservation and fatigue management for individuals experiencing pelvic symptoms
• Activity modification and adaptive strategies to support participation in daily activities despite pelvic pain
• Bladder and bowel diary review and habit retraining advice to support bladder and bowel health
• Postural assessment and positioning guidance to support pelvic health and comfort
• Lifestyle and daily routine adaptation to manage the impact of pelvic health conditions on everyday life
• Return to work and occupational role support for those whose pelvic health affects their ability to work or fulfil other meaningful roles
• Assistive equipment recommendations to promote comfort, independence, and participation
• General pain education to support understanding of pelvic pain and its impact on function — please note this is general in nature and does not constitute specialist pain psychology or physiotherapy input, and is not a substitute for input from specialist pain services
Pelvic health sessions are conducted sensitively and professionally. You will always be informed of what an assessment or session involves before it takes place, and you may withdraw your consent at any time. In-person pelvic health assessments will only be carried out by a suitably trained and qualified occupational therapist.
Please note that we do not currently offer internal examinations as part of our pelvic health services. Where an internal examination or further specialist assessment is indicated, we will advise you accordingly and may recommend referral to a pelvic health physiotherapist, or that you speak with your GP to request a referral to a urologist or other appropriate specialist.
3.7 Interoception Work
As a distinct element of our service, we offer interoception work to support body awareness and the recognition of internal bodily signals. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with PMOS who experience difficulties identifying or interpreting signals such as pain, hunger, bladder urgency, or fatigue.
Please note that this interoception work forms a singular part of our service and does not currently include a full sensory assessment. Our occupational therapist holds specialist sensory training, and whilst a full sensory assessment is not currently offered as part of this service, this is something that can be discussed on an individual basis if felt clinically appropriate. This will incur an additional cost, if required, but this will be communicated to you. We hope to expand this offering in the future as demand and availability allow.
3.8 Professional Registration
Our occupational therapists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and operate in accordance with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) professional standards. You can verify our registration at www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register.
We hold professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the scope of our practice. Details are available on request.
4. Booking and Appointments
4.1 Booking
Appointments may be booked via email at sensoryaurora@gmail.com. A booking is confirmed once you receive written confirmation from us and payment is received.
4.2 Cancellation and Rescheduling
We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Where more than 48 hours’ notice is given, no charge will apply.
If you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, the following applies:
• Rescheduling — if you wish to rearrange your appointment to a later date rather than cancel outright, an admin fee of 50% of the session fee will be charged. The remaining 50% will be carried over and applied to your rescheduled appointment.
• Cancellation — if the appointment is cancelled outright with less than 48 hours’ notice, an admin fee of 50% of the session fee will be charged. The remaining 50% of any payment already made will be returned to you.
We understand that living with PMOS and related conditions can sometimes make it difficult to keep appointments at short notice. In exceptional circumstances, we may use our discretion to waive or reduce the admin fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer an alternative appointment or a full refund.
4.3 Late Arrivals
If you arrive late for an in-person session or join a virtual session late, the session may still end at the scheduled time. The full session fee will remain payable.
4.4 Consumer Cancellation Rights
Where our services are booked online or at a distance, you may have a right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. This right allows you to cancel within 14 days of booking without charge, provided that the service has not yet commenced.
Please note that if you request that a session begins within the 14-day cancellation period and you subsequently cancel, you may be liable for the cost of services already provided. By booking a session to take place within 14 days of your booking date, you acknowledge that your cancellation right in respect of that session may be affected.
5. Fees and Payment
The price of your session will be confirmed at the time of booking, except for Sensory Integration Education (SIE) mentoring fees, which are available on our website. We reserve the right to amend our fees with reasonable notice.
Payment is due as specified at the time of booking. We accept payment by bank transfer. Alternative payment methods may be available on request.
We are not currently registered for VAT. If our VAT status changes, we will update our pricing accordingly.
6. Health and Safety
You are responsible for informing us of any health conditions, disabilities, or other relevant information that may affect our ability to provide safe and appropriate services.
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services where we believe there is a risk to your safety or the safety of our therapists, or where our services are not clinically appropriate for your needs.
7. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All information shared during sessions is treated as confidential. We will only disclose information in the following circumstances:
• With your explicit written consent
• Where required by law
• Where we believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or others
• For clinical supervision purposes (where the supervisor is also bound by confidentiality)
We process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Health information is ‘special category data’ under UK GDPR and is subject to additional legal protections. We process your health data on the lawful basis of Article 9(2)(h) UK GDPR (health or social care purposes), as delivered by a professional bound by confidentiality obligations.
We retain clinical records for a period of 8 years from the date of your last session with us (or, where the client is a child, until their 25th birthday or 8 years from last contact, whichever is later). Records are held securely and disposed of confidentially at the end of the retention period.
You have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to access, rectify, or (in certain circumstances) erase your information. You also have the right to make a complaint about how we handle your data. If you wish to raise a data protection concern, please contact us at sensoryaurora@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay. If you remain dissatisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details of how we handle your personal data, including the types of data collected, how it is used, and your rights.

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the fees paid by you for the specific services giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Complaints
We take complaints seriously. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our services, please contact us in the first instance at sensoryaurora@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.
